Mayor: If you visit us you will return

Good people are a community’s greatest asset. Carrollton has a history of dedicated leaders and passionate volunteers. This combination always leads to success. Currently, we have a good, cooperative team that works together to get things done.

The location of a city is also important. Carrollton is nestled at the confluence of two rivers, the beautiful Kentucky and the mighty Ohio. The view of Carrollton from the observatory at General Butler State Park shows the many tree lined streets, the wide river valley, and the hills which seems to caress and protect the area from the outside world. God certainly provided us with a wonderful location for a city. A drive down Highland Avenue in the springtime reveals the pink and white dogwoods, and the redbud trees in their full glory. Former residents like to return this time of year to visit relatives and friends. Point Park with its boat dock, pavilion, shelters, playground equipment, skateboard facility, and grassy open spaces affords ample recreation for tourist and locals.

Small towns have their own character. Our town has a population of almost 4000. People here are warm and friendly. Conversation is relaxed and easy. Folks speak when they pass you on the street, even if they don’t know you. When you visit a local restaurant you want to spend the day. Morning coffee for some of our retired folks occupies most of the morning. Privacy is not important. What’s happening in the community is. Did we win the basketball game last night? Did you hear that Jim passed away or that Mary is in the hospital? News travels fast. I love the atmosphere and the friendliness. I love the concern that people have for others. There are many good people in Carrollton.

Come calling on Carrollton. If you do, I am sure you will return.
